# SMT Divergence

> Smart Money Technique — compare fractals and levels of two correlated assets to find divergences.

SMT (Smart Money Technique) Divergence compares the price structure of two correlated assets (e.g., BTC and ETH). When one asset makes a new extreme but the other fails to confirm — it signals a potential reversal.

## How It Works

Two correlated assets normally move in sync. When synchronization breaks at key swing points — it indicates manipulation or repositioning by institutional players.

**Examples:**

* BTC makes Higher High, ETH makes Lower High → bearish divergence
* BTC makes Lower Low, ETH makes Higher Low → bullish divergence

## Modes

### Fractal

Compares Williams fractals (pivot highs/lows) of both assets.

| Parameter | Description | Default |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------- | ------- |
| **Fractal Size** | 3 or 5 candles for pivot detection | 5 |
| **Adjacent Only** | Show only the most recent signal | No |
| **Max Distance** | Allowed offset between fractals (bars) | 20 |
| **Min Divergence %** | Minimum difference to filter noise | 0.1% |

Fractals are matched by time proximity (nearest within ±N bars), not by index — this accounts for pivots forming with slight offsets on different assets.

### Level

Detects session level sweeps: when one asset breaks a previous period level but the other doesn't.

Tracked levels:

* **PDH / PDL** — Previous Day High / Low
* **PWH / PWL** — Previous Week High / Low
* **PMH / PML** — Previous Month High / Low

Sweep high → bearish signal (liquidity grab). Sweep low → bullish signal.

### Both

Combines both modes on a single chart.

## Selecting Reference Symbol

Click the search button next to the symbol name to open the standard symbol search dialog. The selected symbol becomes the reference for comparison.

Recommended pairs:

* **BTCUSDT → ETHUSDT** — primary crypto pair
* **BTCUSDT → SOLUSDT** — alternative pair
* **ETHUSDT → SOLUSDT** — alt-to-alt

## Visualization

| Element | Description |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Dots** | Markers at divergence points (green = bullish, red = bearish) |
| **Lines** | Connect previous and current pivot, showing movement direction |
| **Ref Price Line** | Normalized second asset price overlay (optional) |

## Appearance Settings

| Parameter | Description | Default |
| ------------------ | --------------------------- | ------- |
| **Bullish Color** | Color for bullish signals | #22c55e |
| **Bearish Color** | Color for bearish signals | #ef4444 |
| **Dot Size** | Divergence marker size | 8 |
| **Line Width** | Connecting line thickness | 2 |
| **Line Style** | Solid / Dash / Dot | Dash |
| **Show Labels** | Text labels (HH vs LH etc.) | Yes |
| **Ref Price Line** | Second asset price overlay | No |

## Alerts

Standard alert modes are supported. Notifications include a description of the divergence (e.g., "BTC HH vs ETH LH" or "PDH sweep").
